    DISABLE OPENING TOPICS FOR NEW USERS


    Overview

    Description

    This tutorial will help you to disable new users from opening new topics based on their post count. You can say: "I want users under 5 posts to be unable to open new topics" and Voilà, done.

    Technical limitations

    › This tutorial is dedicated to the forums powered by Forumotion free forum service
    › It works with all Forumotion forums' versions

    Installation

    Introduction

    Installation is pretty streight forward and requires knowledge on how to create a script :)


    Javascript & jQuery

    For the next step you need to go towards Administration Control Panel (ACP)   Modules HTML & Javascript Javascript codes management and create a new code - upon verifying that Javascript codes management is enabled.

    • Title: Disable new topics for low ranks [All versions]
    • Where: In all the pages
    • Code:

      You need to reply to the topic in order to see the code resources




    Javascript Customization

    In this javascript you can edit
    Code:
    minimum_posts
    value. It's a limit of minimum posts required to open a new topic. In the exampe above, that value is 5. So, user must write minimum 5 posts before being able to open new topics.

    Final considerations

    New members will be able to gain access to opening new topics by writing posts in already opened topics.

      Hmm. it's a good code but in my case, i can't block the new topic option for new members, because they need to open a topic and introduce themselves.

      By the way, you can simply configure a group with automatic joining and configure the permissions and unmark open new topics.

        Yes, you can do that. But not all forums have introduction section. It's more like an anti spam feature so bots don't post random links ;)
