What is this js code?

Hi, im using this code to my overall_header and 2 guys told me that it makes my forum slower. Can someone explain me what this js got? Just to know if its necessary or if its needless i will remove it.

I think you need to use the "forum variables" but I'm not sure if you need it in your template.
I know that I add it on my HTML files that I host on my forum, and with this, the variables like USERNAME work ^^

But you can not use all these variables on the forum, there are some pages where it will not work, and of course it won't work on your personnal HTML pages.

If you want to be able to use them every where, you just have to add this scrip ;)

I have removed all variables from this js code but 2. (USERNAME and USERLINK)
