Confirm before abandoning a message being written

Overview

Description

This trick allows you to set up a system that will assist you in writing your messages on Forumotion so that you never lose them again due to a moment of distraction. In fact, if you are about to leave a page while there is content in your text editor (quick or classic reply and private message), a dialog box will appear asking you to confirm to leave the page and will offer you the possibility to stay and continue the your text.

For the next step you need to go towards Administration Control Panel (ACP)  Modules  HTML & Javascript  Javascript codes management and create a new code - upon verifying that Javascript codes management is enabled.

Javascript Customization

It is possible to integrate the resource also on external websites by changing the

Code:: if()

statement that verifies if the content of the textarea is present or not.

Simply edit in the script this par, by replacing

Code:: textarea[name="message"]

it with your textarea element class

Then, if you don't run on Sceditor as messages editor, also remove

Code:: || ($('#text_editor_textarea').sceditor('instance').val().length > 0)
