Our community deals with many problems on a daily basis with different degrees of complexity. In order to optimize the resolution of your problem, make sure that your explanations include the elements below. In short, help us help you!
Note: The community does not claim to have absolute knowledge of coding. Moreover, if he held it there would simply be no forum to talk about it (what's the point?). Understand that some particularly complex problems (including those involving advanced javascript techniques, custom templates containing fundamental coding errors (where it would be easier to start over than to fix), codes obtained from other forums and others) may not find an answer quickly, if at all. We do our best, but perfection, if attainable, has not been granted to us.
Items to include- The Internet address of your website is essential for us to solve your problem, it allows us to observe this one and to determine which part of your code causes problem. If you wish to keep the address of your private forum, you can either give the address of a test forum, or hide the link using the [ hide ] and [/hide ] tags.
- The explanation of the problem is obviously required, an internet address is not enough. The explanation should usually include a list of recently made changes that might be causing the problem, a textual description of the problem, and what you would like the result to be. Attention , the word problem has its importance. We won't accept a help request disguised as a command: “I need help with my homepage, with these colors and content, but I suck at coding so the full code would be a big help more than explanations' is a gross abuse of semantics and will not be discussed here.
- The codes affected by the problem are also to be included in your message (use the tags [ hide] [ ]/hide for more discretion if you feel the need). Sometimes it is difficult to determine what is causing the problem. Think about recently added code and changes made to your CSS or template first, if none of that seems to be the cause of the problem, the person helping you can help you clear that up as well. However, use your common sense, if you have a problem with your home page, we will most likely need the HTML code for it and the corresponding CSS to help you.
- Additional details may be requested by the people who will help you. However, you can save time by already including more information than requested: screenshot (to highlight more subtle problems), version of the forum, your status on it (founder), the modified templates, the version of your browser (some effects are not visible on some old browsers) etc.
Tell yourself that every extra second you spend detailing your problem allows you to advance its resolution by as many hours!*
*Dramatization, no study has been done in this direction, but let's be confident.
Reminders- Remember that politeness is also a speed factor.
- UPs are allowed only after 24 hours; New messages only if another user replies - otherwise the edit function is there for you.
- Our community is focused on personal learning. You must have tried something before asking us for help, just as you will have to provide a minimum of effort on your own (use our tutorials, do research on code concepts that you do not master well.. .). We won't give you a ready-made solution, but tips on how to find your mistakes and correct them.
- We are intended to help you with your personal site, forum, blog or for another type of community - everyone is welcome.

| The Team reminds you that it is important to clearly explain your problem, to show the codes that have been modified and to take screens to show the problem precisely. Coders and members helping you will only be able to find a solution more quickly if you have given them as much information as possible from the start, it will avoid them having to ask you for additional information and thus take more time to solve your problem. !
Think about it. The better you explain and picture your concern, the faster members and coders can tell you about your errors and the less time you will waste between messages and everyone's connection time. You will lose several minutes to post your more complete help request and may well save several days thanks to the information provided, it's worth it. |
